Understanding your condition
Stomach cancer and gastroesophageal (GE) junction cancer are cancers that start in your stomach or GE junction (the place where your stomach meets with your esophagus). Stomach cancer can sometimes be referred to as 'gastric cancer'.
The signs and symptoms of stomach cancer and GE junction cancer can often be difficult to detect. The early stages don’t typically cause symptoms—and in later stages, symptoms may be very similar to those that might appear with another condition, like a stomach virus or ulcer.
